Martial arts are based on patience and inner strength.  Perhaps this contributes to the hard-working nature of chinese culture.  In the chinese language, there are many idioms (that mean absolutely nothing literally) that are based in the annals of kung-fu.  Even though I have never learned the arts, they have been ingrained in my mind nonetheless.

Yin and yang, balance, qi, arranging furniture in a certain way has been mentioned a few times in my house as well.  My mom never really explained this in detail to me, because I never really gave her the chance.  I can take the sayings, and whatever other stories, but silly superstitions aren't my thing.

My parents have been taught the same morals i've been taught, passed down for many generations I suppose.  As goes the model for most cultures..
